A superior display of power coupled with sporty elegance. From the very beginning of its manufacture, it has established itself as one of the most beautiful cars produced by Mercedes-Benz. Known internally as the W 113, the two-seater Roadster, with a graceful style was characterized by its exceptional comfort, excellent driving performance, and exemplary handling safety. The 190SL had the same wheelbase as the 300SL, but with a much leaner body. Visually, the removeable coupé roof designed by Paul Braque and arched inwards is reminiscent of the curved roofs of Asian temples and the “Pagode” was born.

The featured car was brought down to Sri lanka in 1975 by a well-known car enthusiast, N.Sellamuttu and was originally equipped with a 2.5 litre engine and was later rebuilt with a 2.8 litre version engine. A renowned Sri lankan architect, Geoffrey Bawa bought and owned the 280 SL between 1978 – 1997.
